Principal Hydrologist & Chartered Engineer

I am a hydrologist and chartered engineer with over 20 years of experience specialising in flood risk mitigation and water resource management — protecting communities and enabling infrastructure development across Australia and internationally (UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia).

I deliver flood risk management solutions and surface water impact assessments that enable major infrastructure projects to proceed. I have helped clients navigate complex approval pathways, protect communities from flood risk, and unlock development potential across diverse sectors including renewable energy, transport, dam safety, and municipal water supply.

Professional Timeline

Principal Engineer / Hydrologist

May 2022 – Present · WRM Water & Environment Pty Ltd

Lead water resources modelling analyst supporting water storage operation and drought management. Delivering 50+ surface water impact assessments for renewable energy infrastructure (solar, wind, BESS) across three states. Key projects include the Little Yarra River flood study (80 km²), Logan/Albert Rivers study (calibrated to four major flood events), design flood hydrology for Queensland Hydro's Pioneer–Burdekin Pumped-Hydro Energy Scheme, and a 136-year continuous simulation flood resilience study for the Darling Downs and Northern Territory road networks (presented HWRS 2025, IPWEA NT 2024, Life of Mine 2025). Independent peer reviewer for dam safety and flood studies including Chifley Dam, Finch Hatton, and Crystal Waters.

Tools: GoldSIM, URBS, TUFLOW, Python, QGIS

Senior Project Engineer / Hydrologist

Nov 2020 – May 2022 · Seqwater

Somerset and Wivenhoe Improvement Program (Major Projects). Water balance and availability assessments for drought management. Flood forecasting using DELFT-FEWS real-time systems. Spillway adequacy assessments and dam safety reviews.

Hydrologist / Engineer — Modelling Systems

Aug 2014 – Nov 2020 · Seqwater, Flood Operations Centre

Hydraulic modelling and flood forecasting using DELFT-FEWS. Technical Working Group member for the Brisbane River Catchment Flood Study (TUFLOW). Project managed Statutory Flood Event reports for Wivenhoe and North Pine Dams. Dam break assessments and flood impact studies.

Senior Engineer

Aug 2011 – Aug 2014 · Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)

Author of the TMR Bridge Scour Manual (2013) — Queensland's first statewide scour guidance, awarded a Chief Engineer's Excellence Award. Flood impact assessments for roads and bridges using MikeFlood, HEC-RAS, and TUFLOW. Developed continuous simulation methodology using 136 years of data for the Darling Downs road network. Road closure analysis for all Federal Highways throughout the Northern Territory.

Senior Engineer — Water Resources

2005 – Sep 2011 · AECOM (Australia & United Kingdom)

Managed projects £30k–£220k across UK and Australia. Hydrologic and hydraulic modelling using MIKE FLOOD, HEC-RAS, MIKE21, RORB, and RAFTS. Water sensitive urban design, SWMP and PAR assessments per Environment Agency guidelines. Project managed the multidisciplinary Crossrail Cell 1 Wallasea Island scheme — now Europe's most extensive intertidal wetland restoration.
